Playing with alcohol ink and WOYWW

Having a great time mixing up all my alcohol inks. They are lined up here like sweeties in a shop.

I'm working on a glass shelf I salvaged from our fridge which died this Christmas. I saved it thinking it might come in handy in my studio and its proving fantastic for this. The colours are so vibrant Having a ball just inking up old photo paper from a long out of date printer. It is turning into a recycling day! As the ink goes so far and the paper was salvaged from the bin I am free to play as much as I like. Once I have made a stack of these I will hopefully have my alcohol lift ink and be able to try it out on all these different colours.

Hope you are all having fun and thank you for all the lovely comments on the blocks last week.

linking up to WOYWW check it out if you have never been there.

  2. Hi Amanda, those papers certainly are vibrant colours. Really looking forward to seeing how this progresses! Thanks for visiting earlier. I'd rather be out on my bike, but due to a combination of things, exercising at home is best for me at the moment. Hopefully next year I'll be back cycling, Weather permitting! Have a lovely week Heather x #12

  5. That sounds like great playing! I love your results, you've created some fabulous colour combos there and I bet you'll have loads of fun with the Lift Ink. Just a warning though, I discovered it didn't work well on normal glossy paper as it's porous so I had to get the special Yupo non-porous stuff - it also didn't work well on the old Yupo cardstock that I discovered in my stash as apparently that's porous as well! Have fun experimenting, I find with alcohol inks the results are always amazing if not what expected!!

  6. What a great idea for recycling Amanda. It's making me want to get the microscope slides that I found in the garage out to play with. Thanks for visiting. Sarah #4

  7. Oooh those are just gorgeous... I adore the vibrant colours. I had a major alcohol inking session once and ended up feeling quite drunk, having breathed in so much alcohol lol lol!! I use the backs of junk mail and leaflets etc. made of shiny paper. They make brilliant backgrounds. Thank you for your lovely comment, and I'm glad you enjoyed seeing my cooking and the kitties - we think they are the prettiest kitties in the world, but then we are probably biased! My leg feels a bit better this morning - I've now had 3 doses of anticoagulant so it's probably well and truly in my system now, and I've also put on one of those hospital stockings this morning and this seems to be making it less uncomfortable. I'm sure I'll be fine in a day or so.

    Happy belated WOYWW,

  8. You are a girl after my own heart! I have been looking for one of those glass shelves, having sold mine at a yard sale years ago. Good for you to recognize it's usefulness. And bravo on the inky recycled paper! You will be ready for blast off; I mean Lift Off! Tee Hee! Hugs!

  9. I love to recycle, so this post had me excited from the beginning. I have found when I use the AIs, I end up using a LOT on my felt dabbing doohickey. Technical term for the pouncer I use to to distribute mine. I've been told I only need abut three drops of each color, but those drops only last about four pounces. I've found them very expensive. I DO like what you have made, though. Those pages are absolutely incredible. I've never heard of lift off ink. I look forward to seeing what it is and what it does. Happy belated WOYWW from # 5.

  10. What a fabulous idea, to save that glass plate to use for crafting. I love all the alcohol inks.. I only own three colors that I bought ages ago and don't use it much but I remember using it on photo paper and that looked amazing! Big hug from Holland, Marit #25
